WHY YOU SHOULD EAT CARBS
I know many of you out there are afraid of eating carbs- pasta, bread, pastries, tortillas, chips.. etc. You have been told that carbs are bad for you and make you gain weight. Some of that information can be true when it's related to white bread, processed foods, and sugary treats. However, carbs fuel your brain and nervous system. Without carbs your brain may feel foggy or slow. It's extremely important to get carbs in the right ways that will fuel your body.
For those of you that are into the numbers game, one gram of carbs is equivalent to four calories. This is also the same for protein. For fat though, one gram is equivalent to nine calories. Later I will get into fats, but this is really to tell all of you that carbs aren't as bad as they have been made out to be, especially when it comes to calories.
Carbs that I recommend are from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, quinoa, brown rice, corn tortillas, broccoli, spinach, chickpeas, sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, peas, strawberries, apples, grapes.. etc. The list goes on and on. The point is that carbs are not just processed carbs they are also found in natural foods, and they are extremely important.
Instead of avoiding carbs try to find the carbs that are healthy and best for you.
